GI 105mm Wooden Ammo Crate with Rope Handles
GI 105mm Wooden Ammo Crate Details
This GI wooden ammo crate was built to haul two 105mm howitzer cartridges in the field, and it still looks the part. Dating from the Vietnam and Cold War era, each crate carries original military stenciling, metal hardware, and the kind of wear that only decades of real service can put on solid hardwood. If you collect military ordnance gear, need heavy-duty shop storage, or want a piece that anchors a man-cave display, this is the real thing.
The crate measures 36" L x 12" W x 8" H on the outside, with a usable interior of roughly 32" x 10.5" x 5.25". At around 26 lbs empty, it's a substantial box. Dual rope carry handles on the ends are original to the design and still work for two-person transport. Condition is good used surplus, so expect honest wear: faded stencils, grain character, and minor scuffs that vary from crate to crate.

They also make solid tool bins, garage organizers, or the base for a DIY project. If you pick one up, the preservation guide on our blog walks through how to clean, wax, and store the wood so it holds up for another few decades.
