History of Army Navy Sales

The Beginning...

In 1946, a husband and wife--both World War II veterans--opened a small brick-and-mortar store in Chicago, IL. They began selling American-made, government-issue military surplus, supplying thousands of Chicagoans with their first field jacket or pair of combat boots. Decades passed and trends changed, but the Army Navy store remained, and became a Chicago institution.

Our Continuing Legacy....

In our 70 years in business, we’ve welcomed customers from all walks of life...and fame. We’ve supplied US troops and Young Marines organizations. We've sold pea coats to world-famous stars. We've become a go-to for members of Chicago’s police and fire departments. Our retail store has been featured in publications including Chicago Tribune and the New York Times, and we’ve supplied props and uniforms to major Hollywood films throughout the years.

But some things haven’t changed since 1946. We’re still a family business, now in our third-generation of American born owners. And though 70 years have passed, we’ve maintained our contracts and our commitment to providing genuine-issue, American-made military surplus.
