This is a rare and unissued WWII US Firestone M1 Helmet Liner that were rejected by the government and marked as factory seconds. They have no holes drilled and no suspension installed. The helmet liners were manufactured by Firestone during WWII between 1942 and 1945. This original period item is a unique piece of history that collectors and enthusiasts will appreciate. The Firestone Helmet liner was manufuctured with a "high pressure" manufacturing process in Akron, Ohio . Each helmet liner is stamped with the embossed "F" inside a shield, the symbol for Firestone. As factory seconds they may have waves or other imperfections in the pattern, or may have rough edges. They may also have the original yellow grease pencil markings labeling them as seconds.
